Key West Bachelorette Party

6 Ideas for an Epic Key West Bachelorette Party Weekend

Key West is one of the all-time great bachelorette destinations. It’s stateside, so your dollars work, and your English is good enough. It doesn’t require exhausting and expensive overseas flights, and it’s near enough to Miami and the rest of Florida that you can combine it with other destinations.

All-in-all, America’s southernmost city is winning. But what do you do when you get here? Here are six ideas to make the most epic bachelorette Key West vacation you can imagine.

6 Great Ideas for a Killer Bachelorette Party Key West - Style

You can’t go wrong picking any activity when planning your bachelorette in Key West. This island is chock-a-block full of amazing experiences for you and your besties. So whether you’re all about the planning or just want to wander the island and see where you wind up, here are six great ways to spend your day in Key West.

Key West Spa Day

Key West has plenty of spas to choose from. Ocean Wellness, Amri, and Prana Spas are TripAdvisor’s top-rated and always favorites with guests. If yoga is your thing, there are plenty of options on the island too. Choose from classic studio, beachside, or on-the-water paddleboard yoga sessions.

Day at the Beach

Fort Zachary Taylor Beach

It’s an island, so it has to have a beach, right? One of the island’s best beaches is at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, on the southwest corner of the island.

Another great spot is the pocket beach and bar at the end of Simonton Street. Lagerheads Beach Bar is really a beach bar, with gorgeous views of the harbor and no-shit sand between your toes. Take it up a notch and take some of their hydro bikes for a spin on the water.

There’s some pretty good snorkeling off the beach here, too.

Pub Crawl, Live Music, Dancing on Duval Street

You can’t come to Key West without spending some time strolling Duval. This mile-and-half-long stretch of pavement and vices is the heart of Key West—if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen there. Whether you want a craft cocktail, a gourmet dinner of fresh seafood, or a tacky t-shirt, you’ll find it on Duval.

So, pick your style of party and start perambulating. There are organized food tours and pub-hopping groups. You can join a bar crawl or start your own. You can visit the historic favorites that Ernest Hemingway enjoyed, like Captain Tony’s and Sloppy Joes, or the chic spots, like The Speakeasy or Alonzos.

Are you looking for music and a dance club vibe? Most taverns and restaurants along the way feature live music from local musicians. The Green Parrot and Sloppy Joes are favorites, but truly there are too many to list. The best tactic is to start walking, find something that sounds good, and hang out.

The best nightclubs in Key West are also found along Duval. Aqua and 801 Bourbon are known for their drag shows; Garden of Eden is best known for their clothing-optional policies. As always, asking around is your best bet for finding the latest, hottest spot.

Floating Tiki Bar or Pool Party

Getting a little closer to the water and cooling off might be a priority if you’re coming during the summer.

One unique option perfect for a Key West bachelorette party is the one-and-only floating tiki. This tiny pontoon cruises the harbor like a South Seas patio bar after a tsunami, drifting away along with all your worries.

Or, maybe a dip is the key to happiness. The pool at Dante’s is a favorite on hot summer afternoons. Swim up to the bar and order a mojito or two if you want to do it right. For big groups, they offer special bachelorette packages.

Sunset Party

Just as no Key West trip is complete without Duval-ing, you can’t leave the island without celebrating sunset. How you do it is up to your gang. The big party is always in Mallory Square, where it’s a Key West tradition to gather every night. You’ll find live music and street performers plying their trades and classic schooners coasting into the breeze.

Speaking of which, catching a ride on a sunset sail is a special affair that everyone should do once. Most larger boats have champagne sails every evening, or you can book a private charter and have the boat all to yourself. There are tons of options.

Sandbar or Snorkel Charter (Or Both!)

It’s hard to imagine Key West without all the water surrounding it. The best things about the island are actually its surroundings. Don’t get us wrong, Key West is great, but getting out on the water makes it special.

You can book a thousand different boat trips in Key West, but the best are—hands down—the small private tours. These boats hold no more than six passengers, so you’re guaranteed to have the boat to yourselves. And since it’s your charter, just tell the captain what you want to do and where you want to go.

  • Sandbar hop and stroll the most beautiful postcard-like beaches you’ve ever seen.

  • Snorkel on the only living coral reefs in the continental US.

  • Cruise the backcountry on an eco-tour looking for dolphins, manatees, turtles, and birds.

  • Instagram your own “I’m on a boat!” moments.

  • End the day by cruising into the perfect sunset.

Ready for a Key West, Florida Bachelorette Party Like Never Before?

If it all sounds like too much, and the next morning comes very early, there’s a local’s secret. It’s called Cuban coffee, and the best spot to get one is at the Cuban Coffee Queen, right off Duval. But you can get one nearly anywhere on the island, and it’ll get you fixed up in no time.

If you want to spend time on the water during your stay, call Captain Zak. He and the Casual Monday will be ready to take you out on the water for a memorable day of sandbar partying, swimming, and cruising Key West.
