Boaters aren’t known to agree on much. Sailboaters bemoan the noisy stink-potter, while power cruisers can’t figure out what’s up with those blow boaters. For some, speed is the answer; for others, it’s comfort and living space. Some aren’t happy with one boat, so they buy catamarans or trimarans to have double or triple the fun (and boat work!). And don’t even get these people started by asking which brand of engine is best, what type of anchor is right, or where their flags should be flown.
Is there anything boaters can agree on? Turns out, it’s simple: All boaters dream of boating up to the bar. Or restaurant. It matters not the type of establishment; what matters is water access so you can arrive in style.
A dock-and-dine makes for the perfect excuse for a day on the water — spend a few hours at the sandbar, anchoring at one of Key West’s best beaches, and then stop for a drink and dinner at the waterfront tiki bar. There’s simply nothing better.
With the spirit of such an adventure in mind, here are eight great boat-up bar destinations around Key West.

Nothing beats a day on the water in the Keys, scouting out new lobster holes, strolling sandbars in the backcountry, and ending at your favorite dockside tiki bar. Diving, trolling offshore, casting on the flats — whatever your scene is, everyone winds up at the bar swapping fish tales.
So chart your course, cast off those dock lines, and head over to one of these great Key West watering holes on the water for a beer and bite. And try not to run aground in front of the patio — although we all appreciate a good show!
Geiger Key Marina and Fish Camp
The restaurant is called the Backside of Paradise, which is a pretty good description, but the locals just call it the Fish Camp Restaurant. Geiger Key is located just west of Boca Chica and south of Big Coppitt on the ocean side. It’s got water views, boat dockage, and an unmatchable “old Key West” vibe. It is the stereotypical tiki bar restaurant, and it’s far enough from Duval that it’s under the radar enough to be off the beaten path for tourist crowds.
The menu is what you’d expect from the typical Keys dock-and-dine: conch fritters, oysters, clams, shrimp and stuff, sandwiches, burgers, and tacos. Dogs are welcome.
The Docks Restaurant and Raw Bar, Stock Island
The Docks basically refers to the shrimp docks across from The Perry. While the setting may seem rustic, the place is more upscale than your typical dock-side tiki bar. Like, the menu doesn’t have prices, and the wine list is longer than the food menu, if you get my meaning.
Happy Hour is Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 pm. If you ask me (and I noticed that you didn’t), skipping the weekends is a bit stingy, but I get it.
Stock Rock Cafe at Cow Key Marina, Stock Island
The Stock Rock is just south of Hurricane Hole on the west side of Stock Island at the Cow Key Marina. This is a dockside tiki with fresh air and a basic menu: wings, quesadillas, tacos, burgers, and handhelds. Beer and cocktails, too, of course!
They claim to have Key West’s best fish tacos. I don’t know anything about that, but the view is pretty nice.
Portside at The Perry, Stock Island
Portside is the go-to pool bar and tequila spot at the swanky Perry Hotel and Marina. If you guessed that it’s a good place to get tacos and tequila, you’d win a prize. It’s a bit pricy and a bit limited as dock-and-dines go. But, when you want tacos and margaritas, there are few better spots to try!
Hurricane Hole Key West, Stock Island
Located right off US 1 on Stock Island, immediately before you cross onto Key West proper, Hurricane Hole is a classic old-time Key West waterfront dock-and-dine. Seafood, sandwiches, salads, and refreshing drinks — check!
The setting is Key West casual on the water, with boater shenanigans happening right before your very eyes. It’s hard to beat a winning combination like that!
Hilton Key West Resort and Marina, Stock Island
Oceans Edge is that other big resort on Stock Island. The Yellowfin Bar and Kitchen is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Happy Hour is from 3 to 5 pm. It’s less tiki-bar and more a fancy resort sort of place, but sometimes that’s precisely what the occasional calls for.
There’s also ta Cafe for coffee and lunch bites, open mornings from 7 to 11 am.
Mac's Place - Key West Bight
If you’re on the water and craving a fun, laid-back boat-up bar in Key West, Mac’s Place Tequila, Sports & Tiki Bar is the spot to hit. Located right next door to Garrison Bight Marina, it serves up unforgettable views, ice-cold drinks, and what many claim are the best tacos in town. Whether you’re docking for lunch or just grabbing a sunset drink, Mac’s makes the perfect dockside stop.
Tonios Seafood Shack and Tiki Bar
Located in Summerland Key, about 25 miles north of Key West, Tonio’s Seafood Shack and Tiki Bar is a laid-back waterfront spot that perfectly captures the easygoing vibe of the Lower Florida Keys. The setting is simple and unpretentious—an outdoor tiki bar right on the water where boaters and locals gather to enjoy fresh seafood, cold drinks, and a relaxed island atmosphere.
Tonio’s is known for its great seafood and daily happy hour from 3–6 PM, making it a favorite stop for people exploring the Lower Keys by boat or car. Nothing here is fancy, and that’s exactly the charm. With open-air seating, waterfront views, and a casual tiki-bar feel, it’s the kind of place where you can unwind, grab a drink, and enjoy some of the best simple seafood in the area.
Half Shell Raw Bar, Key West Bight
Right next to Dantes is another option with a different vibe. The Half Shell is everything it says: a waterfront raw bar with patio dining at the marina. They’ve won the local Bubba Award for being the best raw bar. It’s undoubtedly the go-to if you’re looking for perfect stone crab claws or oysters on the half-shell. It’s probably also one of the best places to grab some of the best conch fritters in Key West.
